Bank card freezing generally falls into two categories: bank risk control freezing and judicial authority freezing.
I. Reasons and Handling for Bank Freezing
Reasons:
- In some countries and regions, banks prohibit accounts from participating in digital asset transactions. When an account is involved in such transactions (e.g., transfer remarks include USDT, ETH, Bitcoin, or other digital asset information), it triggers bank risk controls, leading to card freezing or suspension of certain transaction permissions.
- Large transaction volumes in account flows (e.g., large late-night transfers, frequent transactions with multiple parties, or long periods with zero balance) trigger bank risk controls, resulting in freezing or partial suspension.
Solutions:
It is recommended to contact the bank to inquire about the freezing reason and how to unfreeze, bring the required documents, and cooperate with the bank. Generally, it will be unfrozen in about three working days.
II. Reasons and Handling for Judicial Freezing
Reasons:
Typically due to a risky fund; police trace the transfer path and freeze all related bank accounts in the chain.
For example: Victim's funds go to Account A, A to B, B to C, extending to D, E, F; then A through F may all be frozen, even if B-F are unaware of the fund's illicit origin.
Judicial freezing is divided into two types:
- Police temporary freezing (36-72 hours).
Solution: Generally, explain that your card is not directly receiving problematic funds, wait patiently—it will auto-unfreeze upon expiration. - Police request court freezing (6 months to 1 year, extendable until case closure or withdrawal).
Solution: Contact the judicial authority to inquire about unfreezing. If materials are needed, request the authority to provide police ID, case filing decision, evidence collection notice (photos/scans acceptable).
Note:
After freezing, contact the issuing bank or hotline to obtain three key pieces of information: freezing duration, freezing type (bank or judicial), and freezing authority.
III. How to Prevent Card Freezing
(1) Do not add any remarks during transfers.
(2) Avoid using primary/ salary cards to prevent life disruptions from freezing.
(3) Minimize large late-night transfers, frequent multi-party transactions, or long zero-balance periods.
(4) Since platform trades do not route funds through the platform, to avoid contact with illicit funds, set higher counterparty thresholds when posting orders; additionally, require the counterparty to use a personally verified real-name account for payment.
